Each of our 11 meeting facilities feature unique Victorian touches found nowhere else in the city. Giant windows flood the space with natural light while high ceilings add a sense of grandeur. The Walper Hotel is ideal for any type of gathering, whether you’re hosting a business meeting or social event.

In total, we offer 8,000 square feet of versatile space. And because almost all of our meeting rooms are located on one floor, we provide a convenient location for conferences and tradeshows.

Ideally situated in the heart of Kitchener’s oldest neighbourhood, your attendees will be mere steps away from amazing entertainment, restaurants and other attractions.  The University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University as well as a number of corporate offices such as Manulife Financial and Communitech, are also nearby.

Crystal Ballroom

Added in 1925, this elegant high-ceilinged room is distinguished by its classical architecture, beautiful hardwood flooring and rows of 12 glittering Crystal chandeliers. With two exterior walls, the ballroom’s many windows are framed by embroidered drapery and permit a wide range of natural and artificial lighting, perfect for any occasion, especially gala dinners and weddings. Maximum capacity: 325

Crystal Ballroom Lobby

Included with the room rental of the Crystal Ballroom, this space is equally popular booked alone for cocktail parties, receptions, and networking events.

Oak Room

A particularly charming room with coffered oak paneling, five tall windows and a centerpiece fireplace, the Oak Room is as equally popular for meetings as it is for dinners and private events. Maximum capacity:50

Oak Lobby

A favourite ceremony location, the oak lobby also lends itself well to formal dining. Located on the second floor of the hotel between the Oak room and Barrister’s Lounge, the hardwood floors and large windows showcase the original woodwork of this inviting space. Maximum capacity:100

Barrister’s Lounge

With tall windows looking down onto the corner of King and Queen streets, Barrister’s is a distinctive room with a formal bar and ornamental fireplace. It is perfect for smaller gatherings and is a unique setting for rehearsal dinners and wedding showers. Maximum capacity:18

Queen Elizabeth Suite

A large spacious room with eight windows on its long wall.  The Queen Elizabeth Suite’s multi-purpose lighting is adaptable to the needs of a variety of functions from seminar to classroom style setup.  Maximum capacity: 64

Walper Gallery

Just off the Ballroom Lobby, the Walper Gallery is a medium-size, interior gallery.  Private and quiet, the Walper Gallery is perfect for smaller meetings and seminars. Maximum capacity:50

Lafontaine Room

Actually two rooms, the main event space and a smaller anteroom which gives onto the main room and dance floor through three sets of French doors. The Lafontaine Room is the most private of the meeting spaces with ensuite bathrooms and separate service area. The smaller room increases the versatility of the larger by serving as a break-out space for seminars, making it ideal for full day meeting packages.  Maximum capacity:80

4th Floor Hospitality Suite, 3rd and 5th floor boardrooms

Offering privacy and comfort in a quiet location, our 3 boardrooms are ideal for small team meetings, seminars, or planning sessions. Theatre style seating for up to 20.
